Shakib Al Hasan Bangladeshi Cricket Cuptain
Shakib Al Hasan, (Bengali: সাকিব আল হাসান) (born 24 March 1987 in Magura) is a Bangladeshi international cricketer and captain of the national team. He is an allrounder, batting left-handed in the middle order and bowling slow left-arm orthodox. Emerging from Bangladesh's only educational sports institution, Shakib made his One Day International debut against Zimbabwe in August 2006. In 2009 Shakib topped the ICC's allrounder rankings.
Shakib became Bangladesh's captain in July 2009 after Mashrafe Mortaza injured himself in his first match in charge. Shakib was 22 years old at the time. Initially a temporary position until Mortaza recovered, Shakib's success against the West Indies, securing his side's first overseas series win, ensured he retained the position even once Mortaza had recovered. He was named The Wisden Cricketer's "Test cricketer of the year" in November 2009. In July 2010, he stepped down from the ODI captaincy to concentrate on his personal performance. Domestically he has represented Khulna Division since 2004, and in 2010 he spent several months playing for Worcestershire in England, becoming the first Bangladesh player to represent an English county.

Bangladesh cricket team
Bangladesh's first official foray into international cricket came in the 1979 ICC Trophy in England, leaving the tournament with 2 wins and 2 defeats. Seven years later, on 31 March 1986, Bangladesh played in its first One Day International match against Pakistan in the 1986 Asia Cup. Cricket has gradually become very popular in urban areas of the country. Although football was the most popular game for a long time, cricket gained momentum and soon surpassed football. Especially after Bangladesh won the ICC Trophy in Malaysia in 1997. By winning the ICC trophy, the Tigers had qualified for the1999 Cricket World Cup for the first time, where they beat Pakistan creating one of the biggest upsets in their cricketing history. In 1997, Bangladesh became a regular ICC member with the right to play One Day Internationals. It attained the status of a Test playing country on 26 June 2000.
